Rebates & Financing Available To New Jersey Residents for Energy-Efficient Home Improvements

The NewJersey Home Performance with Energy Star Program is offering up to $5,000 in cash-back rebates and up to $10,000 in zero-interest financing to New Jersey Residents who increase the energy-efficiency of their home by replacing outdated heating & cooling equipment, perform comprehensive air-sealing, and install proper insulation.

A HomeEnergy Audit is the first step to participating in the New JerseyHome Performance with Energy Star Program. To qualify, a Home Energy Audit must be performed by a New Jersey Home Performance with Energy Star Accredited Contractor. A Home Energy Audit is the first step to discovering how a home is losing and/or wasting energy and the home improvements necessary to reduce overall energy consumption.

The results of a Home Energy Assessment are entered into sophisticated software used by your NJ Home Performance with Energy Star Accredited Contractor. The data collected during the Home Energy Assessment provides the basis for the creation of a prioritized list of custom recommendations designed to increase the overall efficiency of a home. These recommendations include insulation, heating, cooling, and hot water retrofits prioritized by taking the cost of each measure measured against the expected reduction in energy consumption over time.

Added to Existing Homes 

Many New Jersey Homes were built before 1950 and contain old or outdated insulation. Homeowners participating in the NJ Home Performance with Energy Star Program can choose to upgrade outdated insulation with spray foam insulation, cellulose insulation, fiberglass insulation, denim insulation, or EnGuard Insulation. Adding insulation will increase the energy-efficiency of a home, make the home more comfortable, reduce heating & cooling bills, and increase the resale value of a home.

The NJHPwES program allows for the replacement of heating and cooling systems with more efficient versions. Those heating their home with a boiler and a baseboard radiator system can install high-efficiency equipment from manufacturers such as Triangle Tube, Buderus and Navien. Homeowners with a furnace and forced-air system can select replacement equipment from Goodman, Rheem and Amana among other furnace providers. Air-conditioning systems can also be upgraded through the NJ Home Performance with Energy Star Program with energy-efficient systems from providers such as Amana, Rheem, Carrier and Trane. Installed equipment must meet program efficiency specifications to qualify for the New Jersey Home Performance withEnergy Star Incentives.

New Jersey Residents participating in this program receive a rebate check mailed to them within sixty days of the completion of their project. If a participant has elected zero-interest financing, loan payments do not start until work has been completed.

All homeowners in New Jersey are eligible to participate in the NewJersey Home Performance with Energy Star Program. Homeowners with estimated total projected energy savings of 10% to 20% are eligible for a $2000 rebate and a $5000 zero-interest loan. Homeowners who achieve 20% to 25% projected energy savings are eligible for a $4000 rebate and $10,000 of zero-interest financing. Finally, those projected to reduce consumption by 25% or greater are eligible for a $5000 cash-back rebate and $10,000 in zero-interest financing.
